Timacuan Golf Club is proud to be the home of the Mike Bender Golf Academy, one of the finest training facilities in all of golf. This complete learning center offers private instruction, group programs, outstanding junior coaching and is home of the MEGSA Perfect Practice Equipment, a unique practice facility used by two of golf's 2007 major champions.
Academy owner Mike Bender is a former NCAA All-American golfer and PGA Tour Player who is currently ranked among the Top 10 Greatest Teachers in America by Golf Digest magazine.
Mike teaches PGA Tour players including 2007 Masters champion Zach Johnson, two-time U.S. Open champion Lee Janzen and Skip Kendall. On the women's side of the game, Mike coaches Seon Hwa Lee, 2007 Women's World Match Play champion and 2006 LPGA Rookie of the Year and other LPGA Tour competitors.
The academy's outstanding teaching staff also includes Ty Krieger, Director of Instruction. Ty also is a former touring professional. He has taught with Bender for several years and has quickly developed into an outstanding teacher and coach in his own right.
The newest addition to the academy is Cheryl Anderson, 2006 LPGA National Teacher of the Year. Cheryl has been a student of Mike's for many years while she was competing on the mini-tours and in LPGA Tour events. Cheryl was a five-time Women's Player of the Year in the Metropolitan PGA Section in New York and was the Met Section's Teacher of the Year in 2007.
